Bank and Public Holidays

From AAISP Support Site

Some aspects of our older units based services are related to dates which are bank or public holidays. This page details what these dates are and how they affect services. Old units-based broadband usage on bank and public holidays

Broadband usage on our older units-based tariffs is metered differently at different times of day and days of week.

Bank and public holidays are metered as part of the evening/weekend/holiday rate. The dates that are bank holidays depend on the installation postcode of the broadband line in question (see below, re Scotland and Northern Ireland). The normal working days between Christmas and New Year are metered at a Christmas rate (zero usage charged).

Home::1, SoHo::1 and Office::1 are not based on time of day or holidays.

Working hours

Our staff work 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, except English bank and public holidays. English holiday dates are listed on the Direct Gov web site and include New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Early May Bank Holiday, Spring Bank Holiday, Summer Bank Holiday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. In some cases there are extra holidays, such as Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

In addition, the afternoon of Christmas Eve and during the days between Christmas and New Year, the office has reduced staffing without full telephone support.

Staff are often available outside normal working hours on irc, email, sms, twitter, and so on. However, this is not guaranteed. We also have an emergency contact SMS for major outages 24 hours a day.

Bank payments

Payments will only arrive in our bank on banking days. All UK banks work on the same bank holidays based on English bank holidays. If you are unsure when a payment will arrive, check with your bank. As per our standard terms, a fast payment after 18:30 on a banking day will be dated the next banking day.

Engineer visits

Openreach engineers will normally only be available on days that are not bank or public holidays. We believe these are based on regional holidays but we have not been able to get a clear definition from BT on this matter. When we book an engineer appointment we will confirm the date with you, and try and arrange for a date to suit your requirements, as such the exact dates Openreach engineers work will be apparent when booking.

Scottish holidays

Scottish national holidays only apply in relation to lines installed at a postcode with the following character prefix: AB, DD, DG, EH, FK, G, HS, IV, KA, KW, KY, ML, PA, PH, TD and ZE.

Scottish national holidays are New Year's Day, 2nd January, Good Friday, Early May Bank Holiday, Spring Bank Holiday, Summer Bank Holiday (start of August), St Andrew's Day, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day. This does not include any local regional holidays.

Northern Ireland holidays

NI national holidays only apply in relation to lines installed at a postcode starting BT.

NI national holidays are same as English plus St Patrick's Day (17th March) and the Anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 (12th July).

Other services

VoIP and other services do not have any special treatment of bank and public holidays.
